- We recommend boxes approximately 4″ longer than your key length. This allows for adequate room to pack the keys properly. We also recommend 2″ of packing material between the keys and the box side.
- Use cartons with strong sides that will not crush under the many hundreds of pounds of weight which are imposed on them by the transporters.
- Make sure there is no empty space in the top of the box as this will also crush in during transit. Newspaper is not sufficient packing to fill a large space in the top.
- Polystyrene (peanuts) alone will not always keep the keys from shifting around. They sometimes allow the keys to work to the edge of the box and get broken.
- Pack the keys tightly. The majority of keys we receive broken are not packed tightly in the box.
- Tape and/or strap the top and bottom of the box in such a manner as will support a lot of weight.
